The best tattoo app in 2027: 8 apps for tattoo artists compared

Updated November 3, 2026

In short

The best tattoo app in 2027 for most independent artists is Taddoo: requests, calendar, deposits, digital consent, link in bio with a flash page, Tap to Pay and bookkeeping in one app for iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, from US$14 per month with no revenue commission. If you want no monthly fee and can live with a 10 percent client fee, look at venue.ink; if you want every chat in one inbox, InkDesk; if you tattoo very little, tatme with 50 free sessions.

Key takeaways
  • Number one for independent artists: Taddoo, the only app that covers requests, appointments, deposits, consent, link in bio, card payments and bookkeeping together, from US$14 per month.
  • Free is almost never free: venue.ink has no monthly fee, but your clients pay 10 percent on every payment.
  • Watch three numbers: the monthly price, the fee per payment and whether the price grows with appointments or artists.
  • Marketplaces such as Booksy and Fresha bring new clients but take commission and are not built for tattooing.
  • Your account should belong to you, not the studio: when you move, you take clients, receipts and your link in bio with you.

  10. Which tattoo app is right for you?

A tattoo app should take work off your plate, not add to it. In 2027 there are more apps for tattoo artists than ever: booking apps from the US, consent tools, beauty marketplaces and programs that try to do everything at once. We put eight apps side by side that artists compare most often, in Europe and internationally, and say honestly who each one suits.

How we rated the apps

  • Built for tattooing: requests with design, placement, size and reference images, projects over several sessions, flash, touch-ups and guest spots.
  • Life at the chair: a real app for phone and tablet, appointments entered in seconds, card payments without extra hardware, works without signal.
  • Money and paperwork: deposits, receipts, expense capture, an export for the accountant, digital consent.
  • Honest costs: monthly price plus fees per payment plus price per appointment or artist.
  • Independence: does the account belong to you? Can you change studio without losing clients?

1. Taddoo: the best app for independent tattoo artists

Taddoo is built for the individual artist, not as a studio system that artists are added to. Clients send a structured request through your link in bio with design, placement, size and images. You reply personally on WhatsApp, Instagram or email with one tap from the app, or send a booking link with a deposit. You can also simply add clients to your calendar by hand.

  • Requests and appointments: request form, projects over several sessions, calendar in day, week, month and year view, feed for Google and Apple Calendar.
  • Link in bio: taddoo.com/@name with flash page, waitlist, gift vouchers, merch shop, free days and guest spots live from your calendar.
  • Money: deposits into your own Stripe account, instalments with Klarna, Tap to Pay on iPhone and Android without a card reader.
  • Paperwork: digital consent via QR code, a receipt after every appointment, expense scanning by photo, ZIP export with Excel for your accountant.
  • Automations: confirmation, reminder by email (and by text with App Pro), aftercare, review request and up to 30 of your own messages.
  • Independent: several studios and guest spots in one account, and the account is yours. Studios can link up optionally through Taddoo Studio.
  • Everywhere: iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, works offline, the app in 26 languages, data in the EU, AI connector for ChatGPT and Claude.

Who it is not for: if you want one shared inbox for every chat, Taddoo deliberately does not do that: conversations stay personal with you. And if you are looking for new clients through a marketplace, Booksy or Fresha are the better fit.

2. venue.ink: start free, clients pay the fee

venue.ink is an established booking app from the US with more than 10,000 artists, a strong flash feature and a link in bio page. The basic plan is free for artists and is funded by a ten percent fee on deposits and card payments, paid by the client by default (at least 2.50 USD or 2 EUR per payment). Solo Pro costs 50 USD per month and lowers the fee to five percent. A payment terminal is only available in the US and Canada.

Best for: flash-focused artists who want no monthly fee. The catch: with ten deposits of 100 a month, your clients pay 100 extra. The full comparison is at Taddoo vs venue.ink.

3. InkDesk: one inbox for email, Instagram and WhatsApp

InkDesk from Canada brings conversations from email, Instagram and WhatsApp into one inbox per client and has well-designed request and deposit flows. Solo costs 35 USD per month or 25 USD billed yearly, with no platform fee on deposits. Data is stored in North America. A flash page, Tap to Pay and bookkeeping with receipt scanning come with Taddoo. More at Taddoo vs InkDesk.

4. tatme: 50 free sessions, then a price per session

tatme from Germany is free for the first 50 sessions. After that, Pro costs 19.99 EUR per month plus 3.99 EUR per session, and Max 99 EUR without a limit. At 12 sessions a month that is about 68 EUR. Its strength is a flashbook where clients can try designs on. Best for: beginners and artists who only tattoo now and then. If you work full time, a fixed monthly price is cheaper. See Taddoo vs tatme.

5. Porter: shop software with a POS for US studios

Porter is comprehensive software for tattoo shops in the US, with a POS terminal, tipping screen, automatic commission splits and SMS campaigns. Artist Essentials costs 35 USD, Artist Pro 65 USD and Studio Pro 250 USD per month. For individual artists outside the US that is usually more than they need. Taddoo vs Porter.

Wavrr does one thing well: digital consent forms for tattoo, piercing and PMU, from 14.50 USD per month. You still need a calendar, deposits and bookkeeping on top. With Taddoo the same module is included in the monthly price. Taddoo vs Wavrr.

7. Booksy and 8. Fresha: marketplaces from the beauty world

Booksy (29.99 USD per month plus 20 USD per team member) and Fresha (from 14.95 USD per bookable team member) are big beauty platforms with a client marketplace. Clients who come through the marketplace cost commission: 30 percent on the first visit with Booksy Boost, a one-off 20 percent with Fresha. Typical tattoo features such as projects over several sessions, flash and guest spots are missing. Useful if you offer beauty services alongside tattooing. See Taddoo vs Booksy and Taddoo vs Fresha.
